London: Day 1

So we got here around 9 a.m. with 1.5 hours of sleep, and tried to make it through the day. We got through the couple hours of using the underground to get to our Hostel, checked in, and walked around the corner to a BEAUTIFUL park (palace included). The park was called Kensington. It was, in a word, delightful. Pictures will be up later, I promise!

After that, we stopped at an excellent Greek restaurant, suggested by our AWESOME travel book, Let's Go: Western Europe! It was called Aphrodite's Taverna, and it had some amazing falafel. I mean leg-en-dar-y falafel. If you're ever in London, you should definitely go there. Because mmmmmmm boy.

The only bad thing about the restaurant is that we were so tired that we were kind of falling asleep through the meal... So we decided to return to the hostel for a little cat nap around 2. It's now 8:30. 'Nuff said.

But now we're going out to the city, hopefully to a pub.

Riding Air GR

Hello! Or as the English say: hello.

We are currently sitting in the reclined leather seats of the spacious and tranquil (read: empty) environment of the Grand Rapids airport, preparing for a sojourn of epic proportions. We had a cruel moment of reality just after walking into the Gerald R. Ford airport... Our backpacks are obnoxiously heavy. For reference, see picture below.

But all is well, and we are extremely stoked for the journey that lies ahead. For reference, see picture below.

Our first stop will be the lovely city of Detroit. From there, we leave for London, England. Here is a checklist of the sites we plan to see there (feel free to comment with more suggestions as well!):
- Big Ben
- Hampton Palace
- All of the pubs. All of them.
- Buckingham Palace
- Westminster Abbey
- Shakespeare's Globe Theatre (we're seeing MacBeth on Wednesday!)
- National Gallery

We also want to visit Edinburgh, Scotland while were in the neighborhood as well... but we still need to research it.
